Nexford University is a private for-profit online university headquartered in Washington, DC that offers programs through online distance learning.

History

Nexford University was founded by Fadl Al Tarzi and Mo Rayes in January 2019.[1]

Nexford University raised $8 million in a Series A round in 2022 to fill affordability and relevance gaps in education.[2] Previously it raised $10.8M pre-Series A to scale its flexible remote learning platform.[3]

In 2022 Nexford University launched a global mentorship program; Global Grid initiative, to increase awareness around the jobs that are moving online.[4][5]

Nexford University partnered with the Federation of Kenya Employers and expanded to East Africa[6] in 2023 including Egypt and South Africa.[7]

In May 2023, Nexford University announced the launch of its ‘Banking Pathway Coalition’, and partnered with the Sterling Bank of Nigeria.[8]

Former Nigerian Minister of Education of Africa Dr Oby Ezekwesili an Advisory board member of the University announced a scholarship program in 2021 for Nigerian women who were studying in the University.[9][10]

Accreditation

Nexford University is licensed by the Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) in Washington DC. Nexford University is accredited in the US by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) an accreditor recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).[11]
