Nemanja Bogićević (born 30 November 1991), known professionally as Neil Godson, is a Montenegrin musician, songwriter, producer, best known for the guitar and vocal covers for the Youtube Channel Neil Godson. In 1999 he started his musical journey in primary musical school in his hometown Bar. During his high school years he was in a couple of local rock bands. After he graduated in high school, he enrolled into Academy of Arts, Belgrade, subdivision Sound Production and Engineering. He graduated in 2014. During those years he visited various guitar festivals with his original songs. Some of those include: Omiš Guitar Fest in Omiš [1], Croatia, and international Guitar Festival in Podgorica, Montenegro [2].

Early Life

Neil Godson was born on 30th November 1991 in Bar, Montenegro. He graduated from the Belgrade Academy of Arts, in 2014.

Career

In 2013 during his college years, he participated in an online cover competition for the american metal band Drowning Pool from Texas. Participants were from all around the world, and Neil won first place . The band shared the vocal performance on their facebook page, and local media wrote an article about it [3]. In 2016, he participated in another online audition for the new lead singer of band Stone Temple Pilots. In 2017 he qualified in Omis Guitar Fest, he passed semi-finals [4] [5] [6].In final night won third place with his original song "The Words Unspoken" [7] [8]. In 2018, he entered Montenegrin Guitar Festival where he also won third place [9], and in 2019 on the same festival he got second place [10]. He also performed his original songs on national television, and on New Year's Eve in his hometown [11].

Youtube Channel

In 2017 he made his home music studio and started recording his original songs alongside covers of his favorite bands. Most notable videos that can be found on his channel include covers of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, Johny Cash's cover of Hurt, and U2's Ordinary Love, and afterwards he decided to license these covers for Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer.

Influence

During his high school years, he got into rock and heavy metal music. His primary influences include bands such as: Metallica, Staind, Nickelback, Alter Bridge, Drowning Pool, Alice in Chains, Audioslave.

Other Instruments Played

Piano is the instrument he is most familiar with, because he finished primary school and started learning piano from the age of eight. When he started high school, he started learning guitar and drums. Later in life, while making videos on Youtube he learned to use a variety of other musical instruments, to add to the richness of sound of his songs. Most of them were percussion instruments.
