Nelson A. Morales (born March 9, 1962) is an Venezuelan-American business development consultant, sales trainer, speaker, entrepreneur, and professional trumpet player. He is the founder and CEO of Nelson Morales Companies, president of SkyTek Imaging, and a market trainer and senior analyst at Freedom Quest International. With more than four decades of entrepreneurial experience, Nelson owns several businesses in technology, consulting, financial services, and entertainment. His extensive knowledge in sales training, marketing, and advertising has made him a sought-after motivational and keynote speaker. He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs and small businesses develop effective content marketing strategies for business development.[1]

Early life and education

Nelson was born in Caracas, Venezuela, to Armando A. Morales and Zoila Hungria Morales. He attended elementary and junior high school in New York City and graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, in Houston, Texas, in 1980. He obtained a degree in music business from San Jacinto College in 1985. Besides his entrepreneurial achievements, Nelson is also a certified martial artist, holding a first-degree black belt in Chung Moo Quan and a brown belt in Kuk Sool Won, with additional certifications in Kung Fu and Internal Arts. Nelson exhibited his trumpet-playing talent from a young age and started performing professionally at 14 with a family salsa band in New York City. During junior high school years, he had the opportunity to play alongside the American Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Nelson continued to showcase his musical prowess throughout his high school years. He was introduced to jazz while studying at the Insititute of Performing Arts, New York, by his trumpet teacher, Manny Laureano, under whose guidance he studied trumpet, and eventually became the lead trumpet player in an 18-piece big band. His training and performances in the prestigious jazz program at HSPVA provided him with opportunities to perform at various jazz festivals across the country, sharing the stage with renowned artists and musicians such as Bobby Shue, Blue Mitchell, Buddy Rich, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, Don Menza, and Bill Watrous.

Career

After he graduated from San Jacinto College, Nelson continued to perform as a professional musician, sharing the stage with renowned artists, such as Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Johnny Ventura, Frank Sinatra, Maynard Ferguson, and the Spinners. His musical career has led him throughout the United States, and in 1983 he performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He still performs music professionally whenever the opportunity arises and leverages his talent as a trumpet player to establish his brand and become more recognizable. Alongside pursuing his musical career, Nelson aslo ventured into entrepreneurship and established several businesses, including a janitorial business, a property and casualty insurance business, and an AAMCO Transmissions franchise. Later, he owned Texas Premier Roofing for eight years. His dedication to learning about sales and marketing made him a top closer for every company he worked with, studying over 200 books on the topic and applying the systems and techniques of renowned sales trainers such as Zig Ziglar and Tom Hopkins. He became a sought-after consultant for companies seeking to develop their marketing and sales strategies, establishing his reputation as a top-tier business developer, sales trainer, and consultant. In 2004, Nelson founded SkyTek Imaging, a company that offers aerial and satellite roofs measurement services to the insurance and roofing industries. Additionally, he established New Millennium Consulting Group LLC, a digital marketing agency, in 1984. The company offers tailored services to assist entrepreneurs, business owners, and corporations in discovering and utilizing the entire range of digital marketing to minimize operational costs and double or even triple their revenues within a short period of time. In 2023, Nelson established Freedom Quest International, a stock market forecasting and trading institute with the primary objective of educating and training individuals on utilizing Wall Street trading strategies to achieve financial stability and accumulate wealth.

Awards and recognitions

  • Nelson is recognized as one of the youngest people to play trumpet at Carnegie Hall in New York at age 13.
  • He received the Outstanding Musician Award at the Jazz Festival from the Sam Houston University in 1984.
  • Nelson was credited with the Franny Award from the International Franchise Association in 1992 for being one of the fastest-growing franchisees for Jani-King Janitorial Services.
  • He has also won several martial arts tournaments in Tai Chi and Bagua.
  • He was credited as the winner at the Amateur Athletic Union- Chinese Martial Arts division in Hsing-I and Bagua.

Personal life

Nelson currently resides in Houston, Texas, with his wife, Lisa Alaniz Morales, whom he married in 1989. The couple has three children: Jared, Carson, and Kyndall Morales. Nelson is also a certified Tai-Chi instructor from the Transitions Tai-Chi Chuan Institute in Houston, Texas.
