Brigadier Neale Edmund Bavington OAM RFD ED (Ret'd) Australian soldier, educator and supporter of the community.
Early Life
Neale Edmund Bavington was born in Melbourne on 20 June 1934. [1] He was educated at Melbourne Church of England Grammar School [2] and later graduated from University of Melbourne with Bachelor in Commerce and Bachelor in Education degrees.[1]
Military Career
- Enlisted in the Australian Army as a National Serviceman (conscript) in 1953 [1], and posted to Melbourne University Regiment
- Commissioned in 1955 [1]
- Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel 1 August 1967[3]
- Commanding Officer, Melbourne University Regiment (1970-1973) [1]
- Promoted to Brigadier 7 January 1980[4]
- Commander 3rd Division Field Force Group (January 1980 - April 1981)[5]
- Honourary Colonel of Cadets, 3rd Military District[6]
Service to the Community
In 2021, Neale Bavington oversaw the donation of goods and their delivery to Tutanga Primary School in Samoa on behalf of the Rotary Club of Waverley.[7]
