Ndukwe Okoroafor Uche (born 1956) is a Nigerian engineer, author, and philanthropist known for his contributions to both the engineering field and literature.

Early Life and Education

Born in 1956 in Ozuitem, Abia State, Nigeria, Ndukwe Uche demonstrated academic excellence from a young age. Despite the challenges posed by the Nigerian Civil War, he completed his primary education in Igbere with distinction. Uche's academic journey continued at Enuda High School, Abiriba, where he consistently topped his class, showed exceptional promise in both the arts and sciences, and in 1975 achieved outstanding results in the West African School Certificate examination.

In 1976, Uche embarked on his tertiary education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he pursued a degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Despite financial constraints, his academic prowess earned him scholarships from Elf Petroleum Company of Nigeria and the Federal Government of Nigeria, enabling him to excel in his studies and graduate with high honours in 1981.

Career

Following his graduation, Ndukwe Uche received offers from esteemed companies such as UAC of Nigeria, Shell Nigeria and National Electric Power Authority (NEPA). He commenced his professional career at UAC Foods Division in 1982 before transitioning same year to Shell Nigeria, where he served for 34 years in various capacities. Uche's tenure at Shell took him across Nigeria and to international locations where he held senior management positions, including The Netherlands, Malaysia, Oman and Canada.

In addition to his engineering career, Ndukwe Uche is a prolific writer with a passion for literature. Throughout his academic and professional journey, he has authored novels, short stories, plays, and poetry, showcasing his diverse talents and creative expression.
