National Credit Foundation also known as Horizon Charitable Gift Fund, is a private non-profit organization that provides an investigative financial reporting platform and offers detailed analyses about various financial organizations and their debt consolidations and the various scams and frauds in the financial service sector.[1] The National Credit Foundation is non-profit and nonpartisan, committed to analyzing and providing useful insights for the public interest.[2][3] The organization was founded based on three principle objectives: to provide free financial literacy and education resources to Black Americans, to raise awareness against the rise in inequality in the US, and To make the strongest possible case for reparations for 250 years of slavery, 90 years of Jim Crow,60 years of separate but equal, and 35 years of a state-sanctioned racist housing policy.[4][5]

The National Credit Foundation advances its mission through its presence on social media, reports on financial service providers and debt consolidation, and diversified content.[6][7]

Mission

Founded in 2012, the National Credit Foundation aims to facilitate its users with authentic and reliable information about the pros and cons of various financial schemes and loan facilities extended by financial institutions and service providers across the United States.[8][9] It takes a closer look at the policies and terms and conditions of the financial institutions along with their debt settlement services, thereby developing reliable insights that facilitate informed and secure decision-making.[10][11]

Vision

The organization’s stated vision is to promote financial literacy and education about various aspects of services offered by financial institutions.[12] By promoting unbiased, truthful information through diversified content, the organization hopes that the users will have the best information available to choose from the various available institutions and thus facilitating informed decision-making.[13][14]

Reception and influence

In 2021, the National Credit Foundation brought attention to college job scams targeting minority students.[15] Through its article and blog posts, the National Credit Foundation brought into notice the various job scam emails targeting college students and how to identify and recognize them. Through its blog, it also highlighted the various types of college job scams floating over the internet.

Through its blog posts and articles, the National Credit Foundation outlines the positive and negative sides of securing various kinds of loans from the mentioned institution.[16] It aims at presenting a detailed review of every financial lender, to help people in making informed and secure financial decisions.[17]

The organization also brings into notice the rise in inequality in the United States based on the parameters of race, color, and income.[18][19]
