Nathan Sage (born 1975-1974)[1] is a former Executive Director of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and is currently a candidate in the 2026 Iowa Senate Democratic primary. He's known for his left-wing populist platform who's critical to the Democratic Party's establishment. He's often compared to left-wing populist candidates like Graham Platner and Dan Osborn.[2]

Life

Sage is the second out of four children of Ron and Toni Sage. Ron was a U.S. Air Force veteran who worked at a rubber and plastics factory to support his family until he passed from cancer in 2007, his mother was nurse and died in 2022 from cancer. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and 2006 while serving in the Marines. He worked in security operations in his first deployment and as a mechanic in his second deployment. He went back to Iraq a third time in 2010 as a mechanic in the Army.[3]

2026 Senate campaign

He started his campaign on April 16, 2025.

He focuses his campaign on "giving a voice" to the working class, which he believes is often left without a voice. He emphasizes affordability and price issues and criticizes billionaires like Elon Musk for amassing too much wealth.[4]
