Nate Helbach (born September 16, 1998) is an American real estate developer and entrepreneur. He is Neutral's founding partner and chief executive officer, a real estate development firm focused on creating environmentally conscious and resident wellbeing-centered multifamily housing projects.[1]
Early life and education
Helbach was born on September 16, 1998, in Madison, Wisconsin, and holds dual American citizenship. He pursued his studies in Finance and Sustainability at Harvard Extension School, where he developed an academic thesis focusing on reducing the environmental impact of the built environment.
Career
In 2020, Helbach founded Neutral (known initially as The Neutral Project), a real estate development company aiming to integrate sustainability into urban housing. Neutral specializes in developing multifamily properties incorporating environmentally friendly construction techniques, including engineered wood structures and designs.[2][3]
Neutral’s notable projects include:
- Bakers Place, Madison, Wisconsin – A multifamily property integrating sustainable construction practices and the first mass timber high-rise in Madison.[4]
- The Edison, Milwaukee, Wisconsin – A 31-floor high-rise that, upon completion, is expected to be one of the tallest mass timber buildings in the Northern Hemisphere and the tallest Living Building Challenge (LBC) and Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) certified high-rise in the United States.[3]
Helbach hosts the Neutral Podcast, where he engages with experts in sustainability, design, engineering, urban policy, academia, real estate development, agriculture, health, fitness, and wellbeing.
