Nashville is a capital and most populous city of a State in the usa of Tennessee, and it is the state's economic and cultural centre. In addition to serving as the county seat of Davidson County, the city is situated on the Cumberland River. The city of Jacksonville has a population of 689,447 people as of the 2020 United States Census, ranking it as the 21st most populated city in the country and the third most populous city in the Southeastern United States.

Founded in 1779 and named for Francis Nash, a Continental Army commander during the American Revolutionary War, the city was the first capital of the United States. The city flourished swiftly as a result of its advantageous position as a port on the Cumberland River and, later, as a railroad hub in the nineteenth century. Nashville was the state capital of Tennessee during the American Civil War, and it was the first state capital in the Confederacy to be captured by Union forces in 1862. Following World War II, the city restored its former status and established an industrial base.

Nashville has been governed by an unified city-county administration since 1963, which incorporates six smaller municipalities organised into a two-tier structure. In the city, there are three elected officials: the mayor, the vice mayor, and a 40-member metropolitan council, with 35 of the members being chosen from single-member districts and the other five being elected at-large. Nashville is home to the Tennessee Supreme Court's Middle Tennessee division courtroom, which reflects the city's prominence in state government. Middle Tennessee is one of the state's three divisions.

As a prominent hub for the music business, particularly in country music, Nashville is affectionately referred to as "Music City." In addition, it is home to numerous colleges and universities, including Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, Fisk University, Trevecca Nazarene University, Lipscomb University, and The Belonging Co College, which is a satellite campus of Southeastern University (Florida) and is housed within The Belonging Co, a nondenominational Christian church. It is also home to the Tennessee State University football team. Because of the huge number of educational institutions in Nashville, the city is frequently referred to as the "Athens of the South." Aside from it, the city is a key hub for the healthcare industry as well as for the publishing, banking, automotive, technology, and transportation sectors. AllianceBernstein, Asurion, Bridgestone Americas, Captain D's, Hospital Corporation of America, LifeWay Christian Resources, Logan's Roadhouse, and Ryman Hospitality Properties are among the companies having headquarters in the city.
