Nabi Hasan is an Indian library and information science professor who currently serves as the librarian & head of the Central Library at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, an Institution of Eminence and Institution of National Importance.[1][2] He has contributed to, inter alia, digital transformation, open science, and scholarly communication.[3][4]

Early life and education

Hasan completed his master's degree in Library and Information Science from Aligarh Muslim University. He earned his Ph.D. from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He was awarded the Norman E. Borlaug Fellowship in Electronic Library Resources Management from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.[5]

Career

Prior to joining IIT Delhi, Hasan served as university librarian at Maulana Azad Library.[6] At IIT Delhi, he was the deputy librarian before assuming the head role of the library.[7] He serves as the secretary of the Science and Technology Libraries Section at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.[8] He is also a fellow and chair of the Special Libraries Association.[9][10]

Awards

Hasan has been awarded the Bonnie Hilditch International Librarian Award,[11] the Royal Society of Chemistry Librarians' Choice Award,[5] and the National Best Librarian Award by the Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science.[12]
