Mustafa Süngü (born 1983; Kuyucak, Aydın) is a Turkish naval architect and marine engineer. He is the managing partner of Norse Group, which he co-founded in 2015 with his Norwegian partner, Jon Thorvald Havardsen.[1] The group operates in the fields of shipbuilding, ship modernization, conversion projects, and maritime technologies.[2]

Education

Mustafa Süngü graduated from Karadeniz Technical University in 2005 with a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. In 2016, he completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Gebze Technical University.[3]

Professional Career

Süngü began his career as a design engineer in 2005 and later held various positions such as project engineer, project manager, and shipyard manager.[3] In 2015, he co-founded Norse Group with Jon Thorvald Havardsen.[1] The group includes Norse Shipyard and Norse Çelik, located in Kocaeli, and Norse Design, located in Teknopark Istanbul.[2][4]

Notable Projects

MF Hydra

The hull construction of MF Hydra, recognized as the world's first liquid hydrogen (LH2) powered ferry, was carried out by Norse Shipyard.[5][6] The project serves as an example of the use of zero-emission technologies in the maritime industry.[7]

Firda Eir

This project involved the conversion of a platform supply vessel (PSV) into a live fish carrier with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters and a hybrid propulsion system for the Norwegian company Firda Seafood Group.[8][9]
