Musa Ssekaana is a Ugandan lawyer, and judge, on the High Court of Uganda;[1] he is also currently the head of the civil division, one of the seven divisions of the Uganda high court. Prior to his appointment as a Judge in February 2018 by President Yoweri Museveni, Ssekaana was practicing law in his private firm “Ssekaana Associated Advocates and Consultants in Uganda. [2] He was appointed as Deputy Head of the Uganda High Court Civil Division in June, 2020.[3] and later appointed head of the civil division in Jan 2021 replacing Justice Michael Elubu who was being transferred to the Criminal Division. [4]
Background and education
The firstborn of five children, Ssekaana was born to Mr. Muhammed Muwanga and Mrs. Mukanza Fatuma Faith Florence. He was born in Uganda on 2nd December 1972. He attended Nakivubo Blue Primary School, Kibuli SSS and Makerere High School. [5] He apply and graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from Makerere University, the oldest and largest public university in Uganda and a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Center in Kampala.

Justice Musa Ssekaana is married to Salima Namusobya a lawyer by profession and is the the father oftwo children Naira and Musa Ssekaana (Jr).[8]
