Monika Engeseth, also known as Moyka, is a Norwegian singer[1]& songwriter from Hallingdal, Norway. She called herself "the Pop Witch" and writes songs which talks mainly about her she sings then with an enchanting and caracteristical voice[2].
She is currently in the European music label Made Records[3] and started to release songs since 2019.
Career
Her first EP named "Circles" including 5 songs was released in October 18, 2019[4] and available on streaming platforms.
She was then helped and start to be more recognized thanks to several performances on different Norwegian national medias like NRK P3 radio or TV2 channel through "God Morgen Norge". She also does concerts in different places of Norway.
In April 2020, during COVID-19 crisis, she performed[5] in Verftet Online Music Festival, a 2.0 Norwegian music festival gathering several artists and fully virtual to avoid risk of contagion.
In May, she was excepted to participate to The Great Escape Festival (2020 edition) in Brighton but it was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemia.
Second EP "Spaces" was available in June 12, 2020[6] on streaming platforms too and includes 4 new songs.
She collaborated with Magnus Skylstad[7], musician and composer firstly known for its work with Norwegian singer AURORA.
Influences
Her pop music has its own style but we can find in it influences of others Norwegian singers like AURORA or Sigrid by her voice.
She said she would like to collaborate with SASSY 009, Yaeji, or Kiasmos but globally admire a lot of different artists..
Also, she is from Bergen, an important place for the new Norwegian pop movement with many artists from and many events in[8].
