Mostafa Ibrahim (Arabic::ar:مصطفى إبراهيم (شاعر)|مصطفى إبراهيم (شاعر)) (born in 1986 in Giza), is an Egyptian Colloquial poet. In 2008, he graduated from Cairo University as an aerospace engineer. He contributed to the creation of multiple young literary projects such as “ʻaysh wa-ḥalāweh” and “Astigmatism”. He also collaborated with several bands like “Eskenderella Band”, “Ḥikāyāt”, and “Al Baraka”, and worked with some young Egyptian singers like Mohamed Mohsen, Maryam Saleh, Sherine along with other Arab singers like the Tunisian singer Ghalia Benali. Ibrahim worked alongside the international musician Fathy Salama in a series of concerts in Cairo Opera House.
His Life
His father settled down and started a new family after leaving his old one behind and going to America. Ibrahim did not know anything about his father until he became a young man and received the news of his passing in Alexandria to a heart attack. When that incident happened, he felt as though god's hands interfered to end this story that wasn't finished yet, or that hadn’t even begin.
His mother was the one who introduced him to the book world. She also was the one who raised him all by herself after his father's abandonment. His sister passed away when he was just a senior in high school, which had a very big impact on him.
The Revolution
He used to dream about the revolution, although he traveled to United States|The United States where he couldn’t stay. He went back to Egypt with his only hope that a change would happen so he could live in Egypt. He gave out flyers at night inviting people to protest on the 25th of January. That’s when he headed to Merit Publishing House when he received a call from the manager telling him that the poetry collection has been published. On the 25th, he partook in the Shubra march that was headed towards El-Tahir.
His Works
He published his third poem collection “Al-Zaman” in 2019
- He published his first poem collection “Wīstirn yūnīyūn / far' al-haram” by Merit Publishing House in January of 2011.
( He published his second poem collection “Al-Manifesto” in 2013, which was stated as the best one in that year.
- He previously owned a daily poetical column in “El Tahrir (newspaper)|El Tahrir” newspaper under the name “daraj alqahira”.
Honors
His poem collection “Al-Manifesto” won a huge prize in Ahmed Fouad Negm festival for Colloquial poetry.
