Monte Bell (born July 30 1982) is an American actor and comedian. He is known for his role as a cowboy in the 2022 Amazon Alexa commercial[1]l[2] "Cowboy" produced by Droga5. He is also known for his role as Makenna in the film "TAN"[3] by Adrian Younge[4] on Amazon Prime Video|Amazon Prime Video.
Early life
Monte was born and raised in Queens, New York City.[5] He is the oldest of his siblings and cousins.[6] Monte grew up idolizing Keenen Ivory Wayans[6] and John Singleton for what they had acomplished as black filmmakers. He had his first film experience as a kid when he was cast as an extra in He Got Game[7] by Spike Lee. With no film school education, Monte learned screenwriting, cinematography and editing on his own and began to create his own content.[6]
Career
Monte Bell started his career as an internet sketch comedian before becoming an actor. He developed a sketch comedy series titled: Barely Functional, which screened at the 2019 Hip Hop Film Festival|Hip Hop Film Festival.[8] Monte moved to Los Angeles and studied at Identity School of Acting. He released a series of internet parodies, including a remake of Contagious (song)[7] by The Isley Brothers and a parody of Steve Burns|Steve Burns' speech to Blue's Clues fans in 2021. [9] [10]
Monte received his first lead role in Adrian Younge|Adrian Younge's film "TAN" on Amazon Prime Video[11] (2021). He is set to appear in the 2022 Hulu series Reasonable Doubt,[12] directed by Kerry Washington.[13] Monte also starred in an international commercial as a cowboy for Amazon Alexa, directed by Lance Acord.[14][15]
