Mohammed Al-Hakim (Arabic: محمد عبد الهادي الحكيم), also known professionally as Mohammed Taki, and Mohammed Abd-al-Hadi M. Taki Al-Hakim is a senior Iraqi official, pharmacist, academic, strategist, and government advisor specializing in strategic management, pharmaceutical sciences, and public policy development.[1][2][3][4] His work spans academia[5], healthcare practice[6], pharmaceutical research[7][8], strategy consulting[9], and public-sector. Al-Hakim currently serves as Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq.[10]

Early life and education

Mohammed Al-Hakim was born in 1979 in Najaf, Iraq, where he completed his primary and secondary education. His family were persecuted under the former dictatorship regime of Saddam Hussain, and he grew up under house arrest with his grandfather[11]. Mohammed Al-Hakim pursued higher education in the United Kingdom, earning Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Pharmaceutics from King's College London, then Master of Business Administration (MBA) from London Business School[12].

He became a registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (UK) in 2004 and a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (MRPharmS). He is also credited as inventor on International Patent – Dry-Powder Medicament.[13][5]

Al-Hakim is fluent in both Arabic and English.

Academic and research career

After completing his MPharm, Al-Hakim trained at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (2003–2004) as a pre-registration pharmacist, and worked as a lecturer at King's College London (2009–2012) then as senior lecturer at the University of Brighton (2012–2013).

Al-Hakim’s scientific research focuses on inhaled-drug delivery and formulation science, and his peer-reviewed publications include:

Industry and consulting career

Mohammed Al-Hakim work at the pharmaceutical industry, including at GSK, Novartis, and Roche. He was a strategy consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the World Food Programme (WFP). He also co-authored reports on refugee food security and aid delivery mechanisms.[9][17]

Government service in Iraq

Since October 2018 Al-Hakim has served as Strategic Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq serving under three successive administrations and sits on cabinet sessions..[1][10][2][3][4]
