Mohammad Alakhras (Arabic: محمد الأخرس; born January 15, 1995), known professionally as Akhras (often stylized as A5rass), is a Jordanian singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence in 2020 with self-released songs on YouTube, including the viral single "Lesatni Janbi". He is known for blending Arabic pop with R&B and contemporary Middle Eastern influences.[1]

Early life

Alakhras was born on January 15, 1995, in Jordan. Before his music career, he worked in business administration. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he lost his job and began writing and recording songs while staying with his family in Dubai. He has credited local rappers in Amman with encouraging him to explore alternative and indie music styles.[1]

Career

2020–2021: Beginnings

Akhras began releasing music in late 2020. His first single, "Ya Reitek Hon" (Arabic: يا ريتك هون), was uploaded to YouTube in September 2020 and gained over 1 million views by mid-2021.[2] He also experimented with rap, releasing "31 October" featuring Jordanian rapper Abudabaseh.

In June 2021, he released "Akher Kass" (Arabic: آخر كاس), which gained over 2.5 million views in its first weeks. His major breakthrough came with "Lesatni Janbi" (Arabic: لساتني جنبي), released on November 5, 2021. The song surpassed 100 million views on YouTube by 2025.[2]

In December 2021, he released "Baad Shu" (Arabic: بعد شو), a duet with Sara Gharaibeh ("Sara G."), blending R&B and Middle Eastern elements.

2022–2023: Breakthrough and live debut

In 2022, Akhras released several singles, including "Ana Baree2" (Arabic: أنا بريء), "Kan Yama Kan" (Arabic: كان ياما كان), and "Estana Shway" (Arabic: إستنى شوي). He performed live for the first time at **Red Bull Jukebox** in Amman on July 1, 2022, co-headlining with Aziz Maraka before approximately 3,500–4,000 attendees.[3]

Later that summer, he headlined a solo open-air concert in Amman. Despite vocal challenges during the performance, he publicly acknowledged criticism and began working with vocal coaches.[3]

In late 2022, he released "Min Elyoam" (Arabic: من اليوم) and "La Tsin El Sef" (Arabic: لا تنسى الصيف). He also appeared in smaller gigs in Lebanon and Jordan.

In 2023, Akhras collaborated on "Enti El Asas" (Arabic: إنتي الأساس), and contributed to the charity single "Rajieen" (Arabic: راجعين), which featured artists from across the Arab world and gained over 6.7 million Spotify streams.[4]

2024–present: Mainstream success

In December 2024, his single "Ghaleban" (Arabic: غالبًا) entered the Billboard Arabia Top 50 Levant and Indie Arabic charts.[5]

In January 2025, he released "Sneen" (Arabic: سنين) on his 30th birthday. In April 2025, he released "Skaba" (Arabic: سكابا), an upbeat Syrian-dialect song sampling traditional lyrics. "Skaba" reached #1 on YouTube trending in Jordan and Syria and exceeded 45 million views within two months.[6]

As of mid-2025, Akhras is planning his first solo concert in Lebanon (Beirut Hall, July 20, 2025) and appearances at festivals including the MOTN Festival in Abu Dhabi.

Musical style

Akhras’s music blends Arabic pop, contemporary R&B, and Middle Eastern influences. His songs often incorporate traditional rhythms such as dabke and darbuka percussion alongside modern beats.
