Mohamed Salah Eddine Madiou (born 1994) is an Algerian scholar[1][2][3][4][5] and the founder and editor[6][7] of the biannual academic journal Janus Unbound: Journal of Critical Studies.[8][9][10] He coined the term “Warientalism” which draws attention to an anti-intellectual production of knowledge that stems from "sentiment."[11][12] He currently does his second Ph.D. at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
He became the center of a controversy in 2017 when he participated in a political event organized by Mohammed VI of Morocco|King Mohamed VI in Laayoune in the Western Sahara, as a result of which he was denied entry to Algeria.[13][14][15][16][17]
