Mitsunobu Kawamura[1]、August 12, 1949 - June 1, 2022) was a Japanese film producer and entepreneur.

Biography

In 1970, Kawamura dropped out of Keio University Faculty of Economics.

In 1989, at the age 40, Kawamura dounded "Kawamura office"

In 1994, Kawamura established “Aoyama publishing firm”. He achieved success with publishing translated book of famous best-sellers like "Trainspotting"

In 1998, Kawamura established new company - "Artist House". The company got listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange once and had been author of many hit books.

Around this time, he started investment in movies.

He introduced young talented filmmakers like  Darren Aronofsky, Lynne Ramsay, etc...

His representative importing films to Japan were shown below.

He also committed "The Tesseract" as Executive Producer under the English name which was "Michael Kawamura".

But Kawamura was removed from the board despite he was the founder after internal confliction.

In 2008, Kawamura came back to cinema industry, he founded film-distributing agency "STAR SANDS, INC"

The company is making success with importing some foreign movies and producing many provocative movie works.
