Mitch McCarthy is an American Mix Engineer who has worked with many mainstream artists including Melanie Martinez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Giorgio Moroder, BiBi Bourelly, Olivia Rodrigo, Meghan Trainor and more.[1][2] In 2021, he mixed 'Drivers License' by Olivia Rodrigo which became the biggest-ever first week song on both Spotify and Amazon Music.[3][4][5]
McCarthy attended Ex'pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, California for production and engineering. He relocated to Los Angeles in 2011 and worked for Top 40 Producers Mario Marchetti and Marc Himmel for 4 years before he decided to head out on his own to mix exclusively. He is managed by Ian McEvily at Rebel One.[6]
McCarthy gained widespread acclaim for mixing Olivia Rodrigo's hit single "Drivers License," which achieved significant commercial success. The single garnered multiple Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year in 2021. He also contributed to Rodrigo's debut album Sour, which received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
In 2024, McCarthy was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category of "Best Pop Vocal Album" for his work on Nicole Zignago's album Escrita.
