Vershawn Thompson (born 11 May 1990) popularly known as Mister Vershawn is an African American musician, producer, DJ, accountant, and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of Baller Beard Oil, a luxury Beard Brand based in Maryland.[1]
Vershawn is also an independent artist who has notably contributed to creating a versatile music production environment since his debut in the music industry. He specializes in House music, R&B, Pop, and Afrobeats and has gained recognition for his local DJ and music performances. He has worked on several featured projects with numerous local artists and has performed all across the USA.[2]
Early life and education
Vershawn was born on 11 May 1990 in New Haven, Connecticut. From a young age, he was inclined towards music, and when he was six years old, he took piano lessons. Vershawn, during his high school, also enrolled in the Girard Academic Music Program in Philadelphia, where he explored different genres of music such as Jazz, R&B, Popular Music, Orchestras, and Concert Bands.
Later Vershawn attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he pursued a Bachelor's degree in Science with a concentration in Finance. While at Morgan State University, he emerged himself into the Baltimore Music scene as a solo musician, participating in several local events.
Career
Vershawn started his career when he was 13 years old. He began producing music for local hip hop and R&B acts, gaining experience as an independent music artist. Later, he also started playing jazz, gospel, and R&B music by the time he enrolled in high school. During college, Vershawn gained recognition for his legendary talkbox performances.
In 2016 Vershawn started Djing and produced house music. Within three years he signed a record deal with Polydea and released two EP's in 2019. In the same year, he also released his debut album titled - Sage. Sage is an electronic dance album that was released amidst the worldwide pandemic.[3]
Throughout his career, Vershawn has performed in over 20 cities across the USA and toured with several other local and national artists. Apart from his career in the music as well as the financial industry, Vershawn is also a renowned entrepreneur, the co-founder of a leading Beard Brand named Baller Beard Oil, operating in Maryland. He started this venture with a fellow Morgan State Alumni with the aim to represent black minorities in the beauty industry.
