Miss Taylor Rae (born Taylor Rae Roberts, July 23, 2004) is an American independent rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Early life

Taylor Rae Roberts was born on July 23, 2004, in Cincinnati, Ohio to high school sweethearts Kevin Roberts and Erica Ziegler from Warren, OH. After attending separate colleges (Kevin attended Kent State University and Erica attended Ohio University) the two reunited in 1998 and moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived for a little over a year. On April 4, 1999 the two married in Las Vegas, Nevada and welcomed the first of their four children in September of that same year while still living in Dallas. Over the next 5 years the couple would move back to Ohio with their infant before welcoming 3 additional children. Taylor, born in 2004, would be the youngest of the four.

At an early age Taylor displayed a talent for writing and music, composing songs from the age of nine. Recognizing her talent, her mother enrolled her in the Cincinnati Music School where Taylor received vocal training. During her school years, she also played the violin.

Career

At the age of 15, Taylor recorded her first mixtape at Timeless Recording Studio in Cincinnati, OH, which she released on her 16th birthday. Her debut EP, 23, dropped in 2020. Riding on the success of her music, she, along with her mother Erica Roberts, founded the beauty brand, Princess Mudd Herbal Beauty. Taylor's recognition as a rising star in the music and business worlds culminated in her being featured by Essence Magazine as a "Next Generation Boss" and an invitation to their Virtual Entrepreneur Summit.[1] In 2021, she released a mixtape titled Dream Girl. By 2022, she was celebrated by MadameNoire as one of "7 Black Teen Entrepreneurs taking the business world by storm."[2] That same year, she unveiled another EP, Pageant Girl. Concurrently, she prepared for the 2023 Miss USA Ohio pageant.

Taylor's projects have been largely supported by her fan base, affectionately called "the Royals", named after her beauty brand’s loyal customers. She is presently a business marketing student at Ohio University and is working on her first full-length album, set to be released in early 2024.

Personal life

Taylor is the youngest of four. She has two sisters, Frances and Erin; and one brother, Kevin Jr. She remains closely connected to her family and draws inspiration from her life experiences for her music.
