Mila «Smart» Semeshkina (born September 13, 1991) is a Russian educator, entrepreneur and founder of Lectera.com, an international educational platform operating worldwide in 5 languages, author.[1] She is also the founder and president of the Women’s Empowerment Council, an international community aiming to help women achieve their full potential in their careers, businesses, and personal lives.[2][3][4]

As of September 2023, the Instagram account of Semeshkina has 5.5 million subscribers. In 2023, Semeshkina was named among EdTech Global Leaders by the EdTech Awards.[5] In the same year, she was featured on the Arabian Business lists of 100 People you have to Know in Dubai[6] and 100 Most Inspiring Leaders in the Middle East.[7][8][9][10]

Early life and education

Mila Semeshkina was born in Krasnodar Krai, Southern Russia on September 13, 1991.[11]

She was admitted to Kuban State University (BSc) and continued her studies in the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSc, PhD).

Career

Lectera.com

In 2020, Semeshkina launched the international educational platform Lectera.com.[12][13][14]

The idea of Lectera grew when Semeshkina had just completed her degree at Moscow State University and then applied for a postgraduate course.[15]

Lectera.com was launched in 2020 with over 150 courses available in 5 languages (English, German, Spanish, Russian and Hindi).

In September 2020 Lectera launched a new product Lectera Corp. — a purposely developed module for corporate training.[16]

In 2021 Lectera.com launches the courses dedicated to the teenagers — Lectera Teens, and also reports about an average 86 % course completion rate on the platform.[17]

As of July 2023, Lectera.com teaches almost 3 million students from 60 countries.[18]

Women’s Empowerment Council

In 2022 Semeshkina founded the Women’s Empowerment Council, the Dubai-based community that assists women across the globe in gaining equal business opportunities. The Women’s Empowerment Council helps women find mentors, investments, and grow their businesses.[19][20]

On March 8-9, 2023, the Women’s Empowerment Council organized in Dubai the Women’s Empowerment Convention (WE Convention), a conference attended by over 1500 participants with Mila Semeshkina, Maye Musk, Natalia Vodianova and Tatyana Bakalchuk among the key-note speakers.[21][22]

Mila Semeshika has written two books, "Learn or Leave the Market"[23] and and "Your Million Career".[24]

Awards

  • In 2021, was ranked among the «143 Women CEOs and Founders leading Global EdTech Startups» by the HolonIQ.[26]
  • In 2021 and 2022, the EdTech Awards lists Semeshkina among the top-10 founders/CEOs of EdTech startups.[27][28]
  • In 2023, Semeshkina is listed among the top-10 global leader in EdTech by the EdTech Awards and top-100 influencers in EdTech.[29][30]
