History And Founding

When Miguel Camarena was 10 years old, he sold his first painting[2]. Afterwards, Miguel Camarena kicked off his art career by making movie poster sketches. He later illustrated for NBC, Warner Bros., and TV Guide, with his major work including the latest edition book cover for “BenHur” and the preliminary illustrations for “Back to the Future” and “The Never Ending Story.” His project work back then was viewed on billboards, buses, and in many shopping centers.

While all of this was amazing work, Camarena noticed that there were restrictions to his creative abilities. This work wanted him to accommodate the directors and all types of different people in trying to do the creativity to sell the final product. Eventually, he got tired of doing that. He realized that he wanted to make paintings that people themselves would be able to personally enjoy and connect with.

So, Camarena parted ways from Hollywood and decided to move to Colorado, where he would open up a studio or gallery that was open to the public, where clients and prospective art buyers could visit him and see his work. It wasn’t too long until he eventually had enough of the Colorado winters and made a decision to move to Arizona in the late '90s, where he would open up his gallery in Cave Creek, Arizona.

In designing the gallery, Miguel wanted to create a more comfortable environment that was more like a studio rather than a traditional-styled art gallery. The registered government name was Miguel Camarena Art Gallery[3]. The pieces that contributed most to the gallery’s popularity in the early days were its donkey collection, the belautifuly coloured Arizona sunsets, and its captivating, unique style, which drew the attenflarge number amounts of Arizona residents. Word started spreading fast, nand evetually, he became a national sensation.

The art gallery consists of original oil paintings, acrylic paintings, mixed media artwork, and giclee prints on canvas.
