Michael Schiller (born as Michael Schmidt, August 4, 1959, Zeitz, Germany), is a German chemist, an author and one of the leading scientist in the PVC industry.

Michael is not only the founder of the company HMS Concept e.U. but also the author of the book "PVC Additives" which is available in English, German and Russian, of "PVC A-Z", he is the editor of "Plastic Additives Handbook" available in (English, German and Russian). He is one of the authors of the PVC Encyclopedia "PVC A-Z" a part of "PVC-e-Solutions".

For over more than 2 dozens patents Michael is the main inventor and the main author for more than 200 oral and written papers.

EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND

Michael was born as the first of the five children in a working class family. His father Manfred Schmidt worked as a firefighter and later as policeman.His mother Waltraud was busy with her family.

He went to the school from 1996 to 1974 in his birthplace at the Polytechnic Secondary School. He completed his higher education from the Extended Secondary school (East Germany) in the year 1974 - 1978. After school he did his military service.

From 1981 to 1986 he studied chemistry at the Technical University Leuna-Merseburg (THLM). In 1986 he became MSc (Diplomchemiker) and finished his PhD[1] (Dr. rer. nat.) in photochemistry at the same university in 1989.

INITIAL CAREER

Michael planned an academic career. So, he worked as a junior lecturer at THLM from 1990 to 1991.

In 1992, Michael changed to PVC industry as a lab manager at Chemson Polymer Additive GmbH. In 2000, Schiller became head of Research and development of The Chemson Group. In July 2009, Michael left Chemson and joined Akdeniz Kimya in Kemalpasa, Turkey as managing director of Akdeniz Austria. A year later he became the Head of Akdeniz Center of Innovation and Sustainability until October 2015.

After leaving Akdeniz Kimya Michael started his own business with HMS Concept e.U. in the year 2015 which stands for consultations in Chemical and Plastic technology including services like chemistry and chemical technology, Environmental topics and product safety, Plastic technology and Inhouse seminars.

In 2021, Michael became shareholder of Platinum Industries Ltd.

BOOKS, PATENTS AND PUBLICATIONS

Michael is author of "PVC Additives[2]" in German, English and Russian, one of the editors of "Plastic Additive Handbook[3]" (also in German, English and Russian) and one of the author of the PVC encylopedia "PVC A-Z" a part of "PVC-eSolutions[4][5]".

Furthermore, he is the main inventor of about a dozen patent families and leading author of more than 200 oral and written papers.

PERSONAL LIFE

In 1990 Michael was married and his first daughter Sarah was born. He was blessed with his second daughter Maria in the year 1993.
