Michael 'Mike' Philabaum is an American axe thrower from Akron, Ohio. He is the 2021 World Axe Throwing Champion in both big ax and hatchet throwing.[1]
He began his professional career in March 2020, and quickly won his first tournament that October at Angrywood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. he is best known for his performance at the World Axe Throwing League's 2021 U.S. Open, where he won both the big ax and hatchet competitions. He became the first person to win both events on live television.[2]
Philabaum currently works at Timber Beast Axe Throwing in Medina, Ohio.[3] He is an avid outdoorsman who also enjoys disc golf and video games. Further, he has six pet ferrets.[4]
