Michael Emberley is an American children’s book author and illustrator. He won the American Library Association Theodore Seuss Geisel medal for the best American children’s book for early readers 2023 . A book he illustrated, Our Big Day, Won the 2022 Irish Book Awards for young children in a collaboration with Dublin author, Bob Johnston, .

Emberley was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is living in Ireland since 2007. Michael Emberley is the son of children’s book illustrator Ed Emberley.

Emberley has been creating children’s books for over 40 years. His first book contract as a teenager, for Dinosaurs, a drawing book, in 1979. His first book both written and illustrated was in 1990, Ruby. Besides his own writing, Emberley has also collaborated with multiple authors on multiple book series.

In 2021, Emberley wrote and illustrated the book for young people in how text messaging actually works – The message, the Extraordinary Journey of an Ordinary Text Message. . .
