Conley moved to New York City in 1999 and began writing for and appearing in cabaret shows around the city (most notably Ron Poole's GAY AND LESBIAN COMEDY FEST[1] at Don't Tell Mama). In 2007, Conley moved to London where he joined the BOOK Music & Lyrics writing workshop. It is there that he met Luke Bateman, with whom he has written many musicals (THE LITTLE BEASTS[5], THE SORROWS OF SATAN[6] (based on the novel by Marie Corelli), PERSONALITY (based on the novel by Andrew O'Hagan), THE FABULIST FOX SISTERS and the cabaret BATEMAN AND CONLEY TOGETHER AGAIN FOR THE FIRST (AND LAST) TIME)[7]. At BML he also met Richy Hughes and Joseph Finlay with whom he wrote SUPERHERO[8] (winner of the 2018 Off West End Award for Best New Musical). Musicals in development include VANARA and INDECENT PROPOSAL.
