Central to the site is a 13th century Tithe barn, the largest thatched building in the UK, which opened in 2016 following a 2-year restoration. The space is now used for events and exhibitions of sculpture, painting, drawing, video, and dance.[1] The Long Gallery is a former dairy, now gallery space, opened in 2017. The site also hosts symposiums throughout the year on topics such as Architecture, Environmentalism and Ceramics.

Messums Creative

Messums Creative is an educational and community project, aimed at increasing access to fine art and dance through a programme of workshops and events.

The 4x20 Choreography platform provides grants to early career choreographers to further their professional development culminating in an annual dance festival, held at Messums West.[2][3]

Messums Studios

Messums Studios encourages development of skills and creative learning. Established close to Messums West at Chilmark in 2021, the studio hosts ceramics, drawing, and painting workshops that compliment and follow the exhibition programme.

The Frink Studio

In 2019 Messums West hosted the reconstruction of Elisabeth Frink's Woolland studio, known colloquially as the Blue Door Studio. Rescued from collapse, the structure is now an alternative exhibition space and displays works by Frink and contemporaries.[4]
