Mersaid Aripov was born in 1939 in the Tashkent region. In 1961, he graduated from Tashkent State University, majoring in Mathematics. In 1963–1968, he worked as a researcher and graduate student at the Computing Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1995, M. Aripov received a Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics. In 2016–2019, he was head of the department of Applied mathematics and computer analysis at the National University of Uzbekistan. From 2019 to the present, he has been a professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Analysis of the National University of Uzbekistan.

Occupational activities

Mersaid Aripov started work at the National University of Uzbekistan in 1961 as a senior laboratory assistant. After 63 years of fruitful work, he went from a senior laboratory assistant, researcher, senior lecturer, associate Professor, Professor, head of the Department, and Chairman of the trade Union committee to the first vice-rector of the University.

M. Aripov successfully combines educational and methodological work with scientific work in the fields of applied mathematics and information technology, Artificial intelligence, Computational linguistics, NLP, and Information security.

Contributions

M. Aripov was one of the first in the world to create the asymptotic theory of solutions of second- and third-order generalized Emden-Fowler equations, which are used in astrophysics, atomic physics, thin film, and other fields. The WKB method of reference equations was proposed based on research on the asymptotic properties of solutions by M. Aripov. Professor M. Aripov identified the following new effects (phenomena) depending on the value of numerical parameters for the nonlinear parabolic type equations[1] and their systems: finiteness of heat propagation speed, spatial localization of bounded and unbounded (blow-up) solutions, cooling of temperature at finite time, one-sided front and The observation of phenomena such as the appearance of "wall" phenomena was proved for the first time.

M. Aripov and his students determined the above-mentioned new properties of mathematical models described by Cauchy [2] and boundary value[3] problems for nonlinear degenerate equations of parabolic type and their systems. In particular, they include porous medium, generalized p-Laplacian[4] equations, filtration processes in gases and liquids, nonlinear diffusion, heat conduction[5], convective migration of dust and salts in one- and multi-component nonlinear medium, and nonlinear biological population[6] processes of variable density Kolmogorov-Fisher type[7]. Methods for researching the properties of mathematical models expressed by double nonlinear equations[8] based on the self-similar approach[9] are proposed.

M. Aripov made a worthy contribution to the development of mathematical modeling, information security[10], and information technology[11] areas, and more than 200 of his scientific articles on these areas were published in prestigious journals and Republican journals abroad.

M. Aripov adequately represented Uzbek science outside the borders of our republic, giving scientific reports at more than 50 international congresses and scientific conferences held in foreign countries around the world. He is the organizer of the ongoing international scientific conference Al-Khwarizmi[12] and a member of the organizing committee of many international conferences. He has also organized more than 10 other international conferences with the participation of famous scientists around the world. He wrote over 50 books[13] and study guides with his students, of which four were awarded as the best books.

Member of the scientific societies

As a member of the scientific societies "Mathematics" of the USA[14] and Europe[15], the Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM[16], Germany), ISAAC, and TWMS, a reviewer of Zentralblatt, a member of the editorial board of the international journals "Pure and Applied Mathematics", "Information Security", etc., M. Aripov actively deals with scientific cooperation with leading universities and research centers around the world. As a result of cooperation under the leadership of M. Aripov, four projects of the European Union[17] (CLASS[18], COCUZ, CANDI[19], and WATER[20]) and Russia-Uzbekistan research projects were completed.

Cooperation in organizations

M. Aripov was the coordinator of the Еrasmus + project (2017-2020), as a result of which the training of masters in the new specialty “Computational Linguistics” will be carried out. As a coordinator and initiator of the COCUZ project, CANDI National University of Uzbekistan[21], Urgench State University, and Tashkent Chemical-Technological University received an investment of more than 1.900 million Euros in 2005–2013.

In 1972–1982, when he headed the Computing Center of Tashkent State University, under his scientific supervision, the subsystems “Abiturient[22]”, “Student”, “Session”, and “Library Acquisition” of the ASC of the university were developed and introduced at Tashkent State University and in several other universities in the Republic.

Awards

M. Aripov, a distinguished and dedicated individual, was bestowed with the prestigious and well-deserved 1990 Honored Worker of Public Education award. This award recognizes his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to the field of Public Education. It is a testament to his tireless efforts and exceptional achievements in shaping the minds of the younger generation, instilling knowledge, and fostering a love for learning. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of education, M. Aripov, a distinguished individual committed to shaping the minds of future generations, was bestowed with the prestigious Order[23] of "Merit" on the momentous occasion of Teachers' Day in 2020. This remarkable honor served as a testament to his unwavering dedication and untiring efforts to nurture the intellectual growth of countless students. Continuing his remarkable journey, M. Aripov was again celebrated for his outstanding achievements, this time receiving the esteemed "Honor of Labor" order in 2023, alongside a special badge commemorating the 105th anniversary of the esteemed National University of Uzbekistan. This recognition further solidified his legacy within the realms of academia, highlighting his unwavering commitment to excellence and tireless pursuit of knowledge. Such accolades serve as a testament to M. Aripov's profound impact on education, inspiring both his peers and students alike to strive for greatness in their own pursuits.
