Biography
Mercedes Ganon is an American singer-songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and author.[3] Born in Giv'at Olga, Israel, she later moved to the United States, where she pursued a career that included singing, and public relations for prominent boxers. [3] Ganon also owned the Love Champs Gallery in Studio City.[3]
In February 2025, she published How to Survive a Knockout, a memoir blending her experiences in the entertainment and boxing worlds, detailing her relationships with notable figures and personal challenges.[3] Her memoir, How to Survive a Knockout, published by Waterside Productions, cover by Jace McTier, edited by Richard Tucci, premiered at number one for boxing books on Amazon, explores themes of resilience, self-discovery, and empowerment, drawing parallels between the challenges of the boxing ring and the music industry. Throughout her music career, Ganon has worked with industry figures such as producer and guitarist Bruce Gowdy, Grammy Award-winning producer and mixer Mike Shipley, and multi-Platinum hip-hop producer Nick Fury. Her memoir reflects on her decades in the testosterone-fueled worlds of gangsta rap and boxing, as well as the personal grief following the 2013 suicide of her fiancé, Grammy-winning producer Mike Shipley.[4] Ganon was instrumental in early efforts to create celebrity boxing matches, including planning bouts involving Jones and UFC champion Anderson Silva.[4] Despite professional setbacks and personal betrayals, her book emphasizes resilience and draws upon life lessons from her mentors and experiences, underscoring her identity as a survivor shaped by both tragedy and triumph.[4]
Mercedes Ganon has collaborated with an array of acclaimed producers and musicians throughout her music career. She worked with legendary Grammy-winning producer Mike Shipley, known for his work with artists such as AC/DC, Joni Mitchell, Van Halen, and Faith Hill.[5] Shipley's influence and expertise helped shape Ganon's sound, blending rock, soul, and pop influences. She has also collaborated with Bruce Gowdy, founding member of World Trade and Unruly Child, who praised her as a "warrior for real music" and a fearless creative force.[5] Ganon's projects have involved celebrated bassist Nathan Watts, musical director for Stevie Wonder, and rising producer Jamie "Jampottt" Donnelly, who cited Mike Shipley as an early mentor. Additionally, Ganon has worked alongside Nick Fury, a producer known for collaborations with Nas, T.I., and Lil' Kim. [5] Throughout her career, Mercedes Ganon has been praised for creating timeless, genre-defying music and for her commitment to honoring the spirit of authentic musical expression. Special thanks for support and inspiration on these projects are extended to Mutt Lange. [5]
Mercedes also worked closely with famed boxing trainer Angelo Dundee and his son, James Dundee, in the later years of Angelo's life.[6] Ganon retained the rights to tell Dundee’s story in a film project and described Dundee as an extraordinary motivator who profoundly impacted those around him.[6] Following Dundee’s death in 2012 at age 90, Ganon praised him as a transformative figure who "could change you from a loser to a winner" with a single moment of encouragement.[6] Her collaboration with Dundee reflected his enduring legacy beyond the boxing ring.[6]
Ganon is also the creator of the perfume Jus D’Amour, marketed as “A Love Song in a Bottle,” which is available through the retailer Luckyscent.[7] Jus D'Amour has ben promoted by celebrities like Angela Bassett, Patty Van Patton, Natasha Alam, Ali Fedotowsky, Mariso Nichols & Stacy Goldman, Chris Harrison, Sharon Stone, Magic Johnson, Gilles Marini, Dennis Quaid, and more. [8]
Ganon developed a passion for fragrance at a young age, inspired by her Parisian aunt, Mimi, who introduced her to fine perfumes and couture.[9] Experimenting with flowers, spices, and vintage perfumes as a child, Ganon cultivated an early understanding of scent composition.[9] Her professional journey into perfumery was supported by Ken Voorhees of Ungerer & Company, who mentored her and helped refine her creations.[9] Ganon initially owned a bath and body shop, Bath and Blues, before launching Jus d’Amour, a fragrance designed to withstand the rigors of performing under stage lights.[9] The scent, blending notes like coco palm, aqua leaf accord, night-blooming jasmine, violet, Tahitian vanilla, and sandalwood, debuted at LuckyScent and the Scent Bar in Los Angeles, quickly selling out. Its success led to celebrity endorsements and appearances at events such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Cannes.[9] Ganon’s fragrance line emphasizes natural, sensual compositions intended to appeal to both men and women. She continues to expand her brand with new projects and products.[9]
As of 2025, Ganon has released a new music project titled Pay The Toll, in collaboration with Bruce Gowdy and Nathan Watts, the longtime musical director for Stevie Wonder.
