Melvin Dain is a Ghanaian actor and filmmaker who was born on October 27, 1996. He has carved out a space for himself working in film and television across both Ghana and Nigeria. You might recognize him best for his roles in ENO (2024) and For Love and Country (2025)., and House of Klu (2025)..[1][2] He won Actor of the Year (English) at the 2025 YEN Entertainment Awards.[3]

Early life and education

Melvin Dain grew up in Dodo Amanfrom, a farming village in the Kadjabi Asato districts of Ghana’s Oti Region. [4] Raised by his mother, his early life was spent navigating towns like Jasikan, Kumasi, Dodo Amanfrom, and Hohoe.

He finished basic school at AME Zion in Hohoe back in 2011 and completed senior high at Dodi Papase Senior High Technical School in 2014 [5]. From there, he went on to study Governance and Development Studies at the Institute of Local Government Studies in Accra [6]

In 2024, Melvin made his way to Lagos, Nigeria, attending the EbonyLife Creative Academy to train in screen acting.[7][8]

Career

Early work

Melvin Dain first appeared on screen in the TV drama College Diary, which aired on GHOne TV. He actually started his professional acting journey back in 2019.[9]

Breakthrough and recognition

In 2023, Melvin Dain stepped into the role of Prince for the second season of the Showmax Original series *ENO* [10], directed by Shirley Frimpong-Manso. [11] He teamed up with Frimpong-Manso again in 2025 for the film *For Love and Country [12]. He also carried the lead role in the MNET-Akwaba Magic series *House Of Klu*, a project produced by Ghanaian filmmaker Ivan Quashigah. [13]Beyond those titles, his credits include roles in *King of T3MA* (2025) and *Terminus* (2022).

Filmmaking and direction

In 2024, Melvin Dain took on the dual challenge of directing and starring in the short film Shadows of Ambition. [14]He followed that up in 2025 by directing and producing Quiet. That film went on to have a notable screening on November 5 at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa,[15] where it was shown as part of the Afro Film Alliance event.

In November 2024, Dain founded Onyx Vision Studios, a production company in Ghana focused on film and television.[17]
