Melissa Odabash is a luxury swimwear label based in London, UK. It was founded by American fashion designer and former model Melissa Odabash in 1999.[1]

History

Melissa Odabash began her swimwear label "Melissa Odabash" in 1999 in Italy where the company’s early inventory was bought by local boutiques.[2] In 1999, one of the company's designs become the best selling product in the Victoria’s Secret catalogue.[3]

The swimwear line, which encompasses swimwear, beachwear and accessories, is carried in department stores and speciality stores worldwide including Saks Fifth Avenue[4], Selfridges[5], Harrods[6] and Harvey Nichols[7]. The label also has two standalone stores, including a flagship in Notting Hill, London[8] and a second store in Chelsea, London.[9]

Mastectomy Line

In 2015, Melissa Odabash launched a swimwear line for women who have undergone a mastectomy in collaboration with breast cancer charity Future Dreams.[10] The designer was inspired to create the collection by her own sister’s struggle to find swimwear after being diagnosed with breast cancer.[11]

In 2019 Melissa Odabash launched an affordable jewellery line with “QVC, Escape by Melissa Odabash”.[12][13]

Collaborations

Since 2006, Melissa Odabash has had a longstanding collaboration with fashion house Julien Macdonald, with the labels’ founders designing several collections of beachwear and swimwear together.[14][15]

Melissa Odabash has gained many prominent celebrity clientele, including Elle Macpherson[16], The Duchess of Cambridge[17], Gwyneth Paltrow[18], Beyonce[19],Sienna Miller[20], Rihanna[21], Lady Gaga[22], Kate Moss[23], Amanda Holden[24], Cindy Crawford[25][26] and Kendall Jenner[27].

Film

Jennifer Lawerence was noted for wearing a white mesh one-piece swimsuit by Melissa Odabash in several scenes of the film Passengers.[28]
