Melicka Jamshidabadi (Persian language: ملیکا جمشیدآبادی) is an Iranian-American filmmaker and human rights activist[1].

Life and career

Melicka Jamshidabadi, born in Tehran, Iran on October 11, 2000[2]. Jamshidabadi started her career in both film and photography at the age of 16[3][4]. In 2019 Jamshidabadi's works won several awards[5] at Film festival such as LAFA[6][1]. Jamshidabadi is known for her work in activism through filmmaking. After experiencing early success, she took on more challenging projects as she entered the film industry with a promising future, with the difficulties of being a female filmmaker. Her films have always tacked world issues such as war and poverty, however; with the rise of the 2021–2022 Iranian protests, her work as an activist increased significantly,[7] addressing human rights in Iran, as well as women's rights in Iran. Her works regarding Iran were viewed at Los Angeles Fashion Week shows.

Jamshidabadi was mentioned in the Entrepreneur (magazine) for her work for Human rights in Iran and women's rights in Iran:

Jamshidabadi has emerged as a key voice in the fight for freedom against the patriarchal Iranian regime. The multi-talented young filmmaker has a lot in store for her followers and her advocacies.[8]

Jamshidabadi was also mentioned in an article by International Business Times for becoming a prominent voice for the Women in Iran. IBTimes mentions her and her latest work that honors the martyrs of the recent Iranian Mahsa Amini protests.[9] Jamshidabadi currently resides in Los Angeles, California where she continues her work in human rights activism and producing films that are stories on global issues.
