Megh Bahadur Ale (MeghAle) an Ashoka Fellow[1], Waterkeeper[2], Initiator of Bagmati River Festival[3] and cleanup campaign in Year 2001. Recipient of PATA Personality of the Year 2016[4], River guide, explorer, river conservationist/campaigner, social entrepreneur and Founder of few Social and business ventures.
He received his Bachelor degree in Business in 1985 from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu Nepal but never made it through as he was too active in nature and sports. He was mostly educated by Himalayan Rivers, Mountains, Culture and Jungles of Nepal since he started his professional whitewater rafting career in 1985. His outdoor career started in 1985 as a trainee river guide from Himalayan River Exploration/Tiger Mountain. He had worked as instructor/river guide in Europe Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey and Scotland. During his adventure career he led the Nepal Team to the Project Raft Whitewater World Championship in Turkey in 1993. In 1997 he explored a few rivers in Colorado and in the same year he did his Educators Course, Outward Bound Canada in Ontario. After spending so many years on the rivers, he developed the passion for rivers; he has a great concern on environmental degradation of Himalayan Rivers in Nepal so he founded Nepal River Conservation Trust (NRCT)[5] in 1995 with like minded river guides.
