Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha born on September 7, 1993, is a linguist, researcher, and educationist. He is also serving as head of the department of English Language and Literature at Lahore Garrison University, Lahore
Early Education
Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha was born in Pandowal Ranjha, also known as Pandowal Bala (Kotly Masnany), a village of Tehsil and District Mandi_Bahauddin. This village is situated on the Sargodha Road, approached through Kuthyala Shaikhan or Gojra at a distance of approximately 5KM.
Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha did his Matric from Governmet Islamia High School Pandowal Bala in 1989 and FSc from Government College Mandi Baha ud Din in 1991.
Higher Education
For graduation, Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha joined Government Islamai College, Railway Road, in 1992, but left college in 1993 and appeared in the BA examination privately. He did his MA English in 1998 from Islamia University Bahawalpur.
He completed a postgraduate diploma in English language teaching in 2010 from the Department of English Language and Literature, University of Punjab. He received his MPhil in Linguistics degree from the University of Management and Technology (UMT) in 2012 and his PhD in Linguistics from the same university in 2020. In 2017, he was awarded with the IRSIP scholarship by HEC for PhD research and went to Copenhagen University, Copenhagen, Denmark. Under the supervision of Dr Sandi Michele Oliveri, Associate Professor in the Department of English, Germanic, and Romance Studies, he completed his research.
Teaching Career
After completing his MA English, Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha started his teaching career at a private school as a teacher (1998-2001). In 2001, he joined another school as a head and served there until 2008. From 2008 to 2011, he taught at private colleges as a lecturer. In 2012, he joined Lahore Garrison University, Lahore, as a lecturer in English.[1] In 2016, he was promoted to Assistant Professor. From September 1, 2022, he was given the responsibilities of the head of the department of English language and literature.
Research-based Publications
Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha has published his research papers in national and international journals. His main areas of research include Critical Discourse Analysis, Phonetics and Phonology, English Language Teaching, Stylistics, etc.
Foreign Visits
Ohter than doing research at the University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark, Ranjha visited the University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland, on the invitation of Professor Dr Piotr Cap, Chairman, Department of Pragmatics, Faculty of Philology. Other than Poland, he visited various cities in France, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, and Norway.
