Mayhem Brawler is an Side-scrolling video game Beat 'em up game under development by Hero Concept. The first game of the Mayhem Universe game series and the third game of game studio Hero Concept. It will be released to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam (service) in summer 2021 as the third game of the studio.

About

Mayhem Brawler is a side-scroller Beat 'em up game that takes place in Mayhem City. Mayhem Universe is an Urban Fantasy universe created by Serkan Özay in 2013. The game is being developed by Hero concept studio and it's being developed using Unity (game engine). The indie titles such as Castle Crashers, Dragon's Crown, The TakeOver and Fight'N Rage started the trend of beat 'em up games again and the tenor did spike with such titles as Streets of Rage 4 supported by SEGA and Battletoads backed by Microsoft. Mayhem Brawler's release counts in this trend as well. The community's reaction can be seen on popular gaming news site Destructoid's article.[1]

Gameplay

Mayhem Brawler is a game which player defeats enemies while moving towards the right side. The game has a "special move" bar which fills with fighting also weapons and object interactions as expected from the genre. Another feature of the game reminiscents of Gamebooks or "choose your own adventure books" with the choices player make leading to one of 3 unique endings. Although it's a little known fact, the first time this method used in Beat 'em up games was the Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom of Doom as an option to choose your path, Nevertheless, it didn't affect the final stage and ending in Tower of Doom. The game has 3 playable characters with unique movesets and variations, a living weapon Trouble, a telekinetic Star and a powerhouse Dolphin.

Plot

While answering a routine call on a patrol, Dolphin, Star, and Trouble -the most popular officers of the super-powered law enforcement agency, Stronghold- find themselves in a sequence of events that will alter the fate of the entire city.

Reception

The current completion of the development process is around %80. Demo of Mayhem Brawler took place in Xbox Summer Game Fest[2] with an early build demo. The game is expected to be released in first half of 2021. The Steam Store page is on "Coming Soon" status after official announcement have been made by studio on their website and official gaming news portals.[3][4][5] Twitch (service) 'em up Video game live streaming DinTheAbary streamed, tested and recorded a 4 hour long live playthrough for early alpha version of game.[6]
