Max Nardari (Padua, 26 december 1976) is a director, screenwriter, producer, songwriter and composer.

Life and career

He was born in Padua, Italy. He would later get his master's degree at the DAMS in Bologna.

He then moved to Rome and got a diploma as a cinema director at the University of Cinecittà and screenwriting at the RAI. His career began with the alternation between film making and songwriting, writing and shooting music videos for many Italian artists such as Raf (singer) to whom he writers the song Ouch which gives the title to the homonymous album, Fabrizio Moro, Chiara Iezzi, Luisa Corna, Simonetta Spiri as well as international artists as Jacynthe Millette-Bilodeau.

In 2003 he created his own studio company, Reset Production, with which he produced and directed several films: short movies, documentaries, music videos, and commercials for RAI, Rai Cinema and RaiPlay, among these in 2010 Lui e l'altro.[1], one of the first works starring the international star Alessandro Borghi with Giorgia Würth, Ivan Bacchi.

In 2015 Nardari directed his first full-length movie, co-produced by two Italian and two Russian studio companies. The film is released in Russia in March 2017 with 470 copies. Paradise productions distributed it with the title Liubov Pret-a-Portè[2]. In the cast, Giancarlo Giannini, Alessandro Borghi (actor), Nino Frassica, Paolo Conticini, Andrea Preti, Tosca D'Aquino, Olga Pogodina e Larisa Udovichenko.

The Italian version with the title Di tutti i colori[3] (Of all colors) is released to cinemas in July of 2019 with Whale Pictures. The movie is awarded the Love Film Festival of Perugia 2019 for the Best Director and the Terra di Siena Film Festival as the Best Comedy of 2019. Abroad, the film is the finalist of the Global Cinema Festival at Siliguri in West Bengal, and the Festival International pour le Cinèma Casablanca[4][5].

In 2016 Max Nardari wrote, directed, and produced the comedy La Mia Famiglia a Soqquadro[6][7], which is released in April 2017 in the cinema circuits The Space and Uci, distributed by Europictures. In the cast, Marco Cocci, Bianca Nappi, Gabriele Caprio, Eleonora Giorgi, Elisabetta Pellini, Elisa Di Eusanio e Ninni Bruschetta. The international premiere was July of 2016 at the Tokyo Festival, and the film was the only Italian movie amongst the finalists with the international title “The Family Jumble”. The film was sold and distributed in many Asian countries and on the UK Spafax Airlines by the German vendors Medialuna. On television, the film got a 20% average TV viewing share within the first night on RSI[8], the most important Swiss channel, and on 7 september 2021 was released on RAI 1][9][10]. Simultaneously, starting from May 2020, the movie has a global audience on Amazon Prime Video[11]

In 2017 he wrote, directed, and produced the movie Uno di Noi, broadcasted as a preview on RAI 1]. The movie received a 10% average TV viewing share. In the cast: Euridice Axen and Simone Montedoro.[12][13]

In September 2018, during the 75ª edition of the International Film Festival of Venezia, Nardari was awarded the Premio Leone di Vetro as Best Director and as Venetian prestigious personality.[14]

On September 9th 2020 it premieres the music video Fragile, during the 75ª edition of the International Film Festival of Venezia. The music video, directed with Emiliano Leone is about the planet's environmental matter after the Coronavirus Pandemic. The music video won various international awards including the Cannes Film Festival 2022, The Andromeda Film Festival 2020 in Turkey and the Resistance International Film Festival in Iran.[15][16]

In 2021 Nardari wrote, directed, and produced the comedy Diversamente[17], released on May 18 2021 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. In the cast: Alessandro Borghi, Michela Andreozzi, Claudia Zanella, Giancarlo Magalli, Caterina Misasi, Simone Montedoro, Euridice Axen, Fioretta Mari and Denny Méndez. The movie is awarded the Social Film Festival Artelesia 2021 for the Best Film and the Cilento International Film Festival 2022 as Best Italian Comedy.

On September 6th 2022 it premieres the short movie Ritorno al presente, during the 79ª edition of the International Film Festival of Venezia. The short movie won 15 awards around the world, among which The Chicago Comedy Reel 2022 as Best Actress and Best International Short Film and the Premio Leone di Vetro at the International Film Festival of Venezia. In the cast: Daniela Poggi, Attilio Fontana and Clizia Fornasier. On March 6 th 2023 the short film released on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.

Other activities

In addition to being a film director, Max Nardari has been also Artistic Director of two film festivals. In 2019 and 2020 has been for two times the Artistic Director of Sabaudia Studios, the famous and historical Italian Comedy Festival of Sabaudia (Latina, Italy) co-hosted with the actress Tosca D'Aquino. The show lasted ten days with a presence of almost 10.000 spectators.[18][19][20]

In 2018, 2019 and 2020 has been the Artistic Director of the International Russian Film Festival Premio Felix[21], co-hosted with Elisabetta Pellini and Arianna Bergamaschi.[22][23][24]

Alongside his career as director and filmmaker, Nardari has always cultivated his great passion as songwriter and film music composer, inserting his songs which he also interpreted, in many of his films. The song La ragnatela, it's part of the soundtrack of his Italian-Russian movie Liubov Pret-a-Portè in 2017. The song is conteined in the movie trailer and is broadcasted by several Russian radios and TV Channels.

Private Life

Max Nardari is the son of Renea Rocchino Nardari, the first female lawyer of the Sacra Rota in Italy and eighth in the world.
