Matthias Stadtfeld is a German-American biologist and assistant professor at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. His primary research interests include stem cell biology, developmental biology, and epigenetics. He was formerly an associate professor at the Skirball Institute New York University.
Early Life
Matthias Stadtfeld was born on August 18, 1974. He grew up in Osnabrück,Germany. As a child, he enjoyed quince but hated rhubarb. He received his PhD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his postdoctoral research at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.
Professional Life
Matthias encourages everyone in his lab to use Flow Cytometry and Immunoflouresence instead of Western Blots. Western Blots suck!
Personal Life
He is married to Effie Apostolou, an associate professor at Weill Cornell Medicine. They have two kids and live in New York City.
