Matthew S. Rhodes is an American actor who appeared in the films Hemet, or the Landlady Don't Drink Tea (2023), Rubaru (2021), What Daphne Saw (2019), With Joyful Ring (2022). Rhodes has multiple acting nominations at International Christian Film & Music Festival.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
Personal life
Rhodes was born to Warren W. Rhodes of Raritan, New Jersey, a Korean War veteran of the United States Army.[9] He graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School in 1984[10] and attended Pennsylvania State University.[11] In 1990, he was the recipient of the Liberal Arts John W. White Scholarship in Spanish.[12]
Career
In 2018, Rhodes was cast as Victor in a production of Arthur Miller's The Price at Theatre Palisades in Pacific Palisades, California.[3][4][13] In their review of With Joyful Ring, film critic Jason Knight said Rhodes' "performance is vital for the film to work and he succeeds at that tremendously, portraying a lonely and grieving individual."[2] Nate Bell at Biola News said he "fills the role of the possessive father with aplomb" in Rubaru.[7] In 2023, he portrayed the character Gary, a tenant in the film Hemet, or the Landlady Don't Drink Tea, starring alongside Merrick McCartha, Kimberly Weinberger, and Nick Young.[1][8][14]
