Matthew L. Moseley (born May 12, 1967 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American communications and media strategist, author, and open water adventure swimmer[1]. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Kristin, a water rights attorney, and children Charlie and Amelia.

Background

Moseley's communications background includes his current position as Principal of Ignition Strategy Group. He has a master's degree in public policy from the University of Colorado and graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from Louisiana Tech University.

Books

Moseley released his first book about the controversial Lisl Auman case in May 2010, titled "Dear Dr. Thompson: Felony Murder, Hunter S. Thompson and the Last Gonzo Campaign"[2].

"Ignition: Superior Communications Strategies for Stronger Connections"[3], was released in April 2021 by Routledge Publishing.

His latest book, “Soul Is Waterproof[4]” was released in May 2023 through CG Sports Publishing.

Documentaries

Moseley is featured in two documentaries by Wayne Ewing: When I Die, about Hunter S. Thompson's funeral, and Fear and Loathing in Denver, about the Lisl Auman case. He is described in Anita Thompson's book, The Gonzo Way, as an "energetic young public relations expert."

He is also the subject of a documentary by Wayne Ewing titled Dancing in the Water which chronicles his swim of Lake Ponchatrain[13] as well as profiles the lake and its rejuvenation after Hurricane Katrina.

The movie was nominated for Best of the Year by the World Open Water Swimming Association. Silent River, produced by American Rivers, is about Moseley’s 40 mile swim down the Green River during the lowest flows ever recorded.

Marathon swimming may seem crazy to some, but it is Matthew Moseley's way of drawing attention to critical water issues.
