Matrimonial websites, often known as marriage websites, are a kind of dating website that differs from the norm.

Matrimonial websites are becoming more popular in India, as well as among Indians living abroad, as an alternative to the conventional marriage broker. It is estimated that the internet matrimonial sector in India would be worth $250 million by 2017, according to the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry in India.[1] It is estimated that there are around 1500 matrimonial websites in India, according to The New York Times.

Users of matrimonial websites must first register with the website, following which they may publish their profile to a searchable database kept by the website. For those users who are seeking suitors, the database may be searched through using customised criteria such as nationality, age, gender, availability of a picture, religion, geographic area, and caste, among other things (mainly for websites based in India).

Information gathered through matrimony websites has been abused in the past, according to reports.
