Maryam Rahman is an associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Florida. [1] Her parents are from Peshawar Pakistan and she was born and raised in Panama City, Florida. She graduated from Rutherford High School IB program and attended Johns Hopkins University for her undergraduate studies in Chemistry. She attended the University of Florida for medical school and completed her neurosurgery residency at UF and her fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. She has been on faculty at UF since 2013.
Dr. Rahman performs surgery and takes care of patients with brain tumors and uses surgical techniques such as awake mapping during resection, fluroescence guided surgery, use of i-MRI and MRI guided laser ablation. She has a laboratory focused on finding cures for brain tumors.[2] She has published over 100 peer reviewed publications[3] and has served as member at large for the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the president of Women in Neurosurgery[4] and was the first female president of the Florida Neurosurgical Society.
