Mary Kate "MK" Morrissey is an American stage actress. She is currently the standby for Elphaba in the Broadway musical Wicked.

Early life and education

Morrissey is from the Philadelphia area.[1]

Morrissey was first introduced to the musical Wicked when she saw Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty in Wicked during as a high school student.[2] She is a graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA in Musical Theatre.[1][3]

Career

In 2016, Morrissey was part of the Wicked national tour as the standby for Elphaba. In September 2017, Morrissey took over the role of Elphaba for the tour.[4]

Beginning in September 2019, Morrissey played Janis Sarkisian in the national tour of Mean Girls.[5]

During the shutdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic, Morrissey founded a digital youth acting program, Double Name Witches, with her former Wicked colleague, actress Ginna Claire Mason.[6]

In February 2023, Morrissey made her Broadway debut as the standby for Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked.[7][8]

Personal life

Morrissey identifies as queer.[15] As of 2018, she was living in Harlem.[1]
