Mark Kislingbury is the fastest English court reporter of all time. He first set the Guinness World Record for the fastest real-time court reporter in 2004, transcribing at 360 words in one-minute with 97 percent accuracy. The world record was previously held by Nat Behrin, who transcribed 350 words per minutes in 1922 using pen shorthand, and there is no record of accuracy.[1] [2] Mark has since beaten his one-minute record again in 2022 with 370 words in one-minute with 95 percent accuracy. Mark is considered the most famous court reporter in the United States.[3]

Mark credits the system he created, referred to as a theory, for helping him reach world record breaking speed.[4] Mark named his theory Magnum Steno which uses thousands of briefs, specific combinations of keys that produce entire words or phrases in one stroke.

Mark founded Magnum Steno, Inc., a company that provides products and services to student and professional court reporters including an online training website to help court reporters improve their speed. In 2014 he published his Magnum Steno court reporting theory in the book Magnum Steno: Beginning Theory. Mark also wrote My System: The Road to Realtime Excellence (2001) and StenoMaster Theory (2004).
