Mark Agnew is an adventurer, keynote speaker and an extreme sports journalist. He is best known for his work as Outdoor & Extreme Sports Editor[1] for the South China Morning Post.

He was born in 1991 in Edinburgh. He attended Fettes College. He went to Newcastle University. Mark lived in Hong Kong from 2013 to 2021.

Mark is the son of explorer Sir Crispin Agnew QC. In July 2023, Mark is part of The Arctic Cowboys[2]. He and three others are attempting to be the first people to kayak the entire Northwest Passage, from Baffin Bay to Beaufort Sea.

Mark's most high profile adventures so far have and ended in failure[3]. He attempted to row the Atlantic twice and failed both times. Mark experienced a mental health crisis as a result of the failures and talks about his experience in his keynote talks. [4].

Since those failures, Mark has completed numerous adventures that have garnered less attention, such as rowing from Newcastle to Orkney, sailing to Shetland and back and kayaking along the West Coast of Scotland[5] climbing Munros from sea level as he passed.

Mark coined the phrased stayventures for domestic adventures. Stayventures are big adventures, typically two weeks or more, often months long, that take place in the UK.
