Biography

Early and personal life

Born on June 5, 1996, into a musically inclined family, Marizu inherited a passion for music from his artist father, Buchi Atuonwu. Immersing himself in the musical world, he joined his church choir at the age of 16, commencing the active cultivation of his musical talents.[1]

He is a graduate of the Coventry University (BA Illustration & Animation).

Musical career

Embarking on his musical journey at 21 after obtaining his BA, Marizu released his debut single, 'Chosen,' which garnered attention from the International UK-based label HFP Music, leading to a signing. [2]In August 2020, his inaugural body of work was released, propelling him into the spotlight. Within a short span, Marizu's music featured on major Afro gospel channels in Europe, amassing over 26 million streams/views and cultivating a fan base exceeding 22,000 passionate God and music enthusiasts. Collaborating with renowned artists such as MOBO award winner CalledOut Music and Premier Gospel Award winner Limoblaze, Marizu's music resonates with believers, especially the youth, and has reached various parts of the world. Notable performances include a 5-day concert with Sinach at the Monarch, Lekki[3], and featuring at Rock Fest, an annual December concert hosted by Ada Ehi.

A significant milestone followed in May 2023 with his debut concert in Lagos, Nigeria, where he sold 400 tickets in just four days.[4] His popularity extends globally, as he headlined the UK's largest afrogospel festival, Solos, in October 2023.
