Marion King was born in 1897 in Ireland, she was an artist most widely known for her innovative children's cartoons and left her mark on her extraordinary artistic illustrations and glass paintings.[1] Marion was widely praised worldwide, her innovative art styles helped her to achieve this. She was born in Trim, a rather small town in the county of Meath in a family of eleven kids. Marion King's father, Thomas King worked as a Customs and Excise officer, which led him to move to Trim in the late eighteen hundreds.[2] Marion spent considerable time in Leeds during her youth, later attending Leeds College of Arts which helped her to get started on her successful journey.[3] Marion's college studies in Leeds paved the way for her to become an artist and make a mark for herself. She returned to her home country, Ireland in 1922 where she began selling her art.[4] Marion created most of her work from the comfort of her home in Dublin where she was able to pursue her ambitions of becoming a profound artist making a steady income through commercial art.[5] Marion King is considered a pioneer of glass painting, which drew attention to her from larger artistic circles in New York and Paris, which meant global recognition for her.[6] Rumors of her have also spread about writing a book where she put into words her new methods.[7] Several of her glass paintings were also shown in the Angus Gallery, St Stephen's Green, Dublin in 1934.[8] The art form of glass painting was first invented in the United Kingdom and the Irish Free Stateallegedly.[9] This new technique dealt with painting simply but working with very characteristic colors such as gold.[10] By the nineteen forties and fifties, Marion King was a recognized artistic individual making her most predominant work in children's books which she also presented on the Radio[11]
