Marieke Eyskoot (Zaanstad, 7th May 1977) is a Dutch author, speaker/presenter and sustainable lifestyle expert.
Career
In 2000, Eyskoot graduated from the University of Amsterdam in both Film and Television Studies, and Theatre Studies. After working as a television producer, she started in 2002 as European coordinator at the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC), an NGO for better working conditions in the global garment industry. In 2009, Eyskoot started leading the Dutch national campaign, and became the figurehead of the organisation.
In 2011 she began as self-employed, independent sustainable fashion and lifestyle expert. Since, she has been working as speaker, presenter, voice-over, author and consultant.[1]
Eyskoot was the co-founder in 2011 of MINT,[2] one of the first international trade fairs in the world for fair fashion. Between 2011 and 2016 she curated and organised eleven editions of the trade fair.
Eyskoot gives keynotes on all topics related to sustainability, conscious living, equal rights and freedom.[3]
In 2020 Eyskoot launched #SustainabilityAgainstShame,[4] a worldwide movement that calls out shaming as a tactic by brands, advertising and media to get people to buy more products.
Eyskoot often speaks out on issues such as feminism, equal rights, body image, taboos and commercialisation of our body and being (and how this hampers sustainable behaviour).
As presenter and moderator, Eyskoot regularly hosts programmes[5] and events.[6]
