Maria Sara Popa (born 29 July 2005)[1] is a Romanian tennis player. She reached No. 1 in the Tennis Europe U14 Rankings[2][3], in May 2019 and has a career high of No. 9 in the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour Rankings[4], achieved in April 2022.
Popa, who began playing at the age of 4, now has a career-high singles ranking by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) of 761.[5]
She played her first ITF Women's singles final[6] in May 2023 and is amongst the world's Top 25 players under 18[7], ranked in the WTA.
The Romanian (mainstream) mass media wrote about her in the last years, with articles appearing on Adevărul [8][9][10][11], HotNews [12], Orange Sport[13][14][15][16][17][18][19] and others.
Maria is set to make her WTA Tour debut later this year, in one of the tournaments from her maiden country.

Tennis Europe summary
Popa won five out of the nine singles finals she played on this circuit and two out of the eight she played in doubles.[20] The last title she won in May 2019 was also the title which helped her achieve the No. 1 position in the U14 age category.[3]
